Daniel Kinahan, 49, an Irish man from Dublin and alleged leader of the Kinahan organised crime group, was arrested in Dubai in April 2026 on an Irish arrest warrant for serious organised crime offences. He was extradited to Ireland on 9 August 2026, the first person brought back under the new permanent Ireland-UAE extradition treaty, and charged with directing a criminal organisation between 18 October 2015 and 6 April 2017. The charge relates to the Kinahan-Hutch feud, which claimed 18 lives. At a hearing on 12 October 2026 at the Special Criminal Court in Dublin, Kinahan appeared in person and was remanded in custody until 21 December, with his solicitor indicating a bail application will be made in the coming weeks.

Sean McGovern, an Irish man aged 38 from Crumlin, Dublin, is believed to have directed the murder and was directed by the DPP to face charges of murder and directing a crime gang in April 2022. A European Arrest Warrant was issued by the Dublin High Court, and McGovern was arrested by Dubai Police on 10 October 2024 on an Interpol Red Notice. Eddie Hutch, a 58-year-old (reports differ: 59) taxi driver and father of five, was shot dead outside his home on Poplar Row, Ballybough, Dublin 3, on 8 February 2016, three days after the murder of David Byrne at the Regency Hotel. Gardaí believe the killing was a targeted retaliation for the Regency Hotel shooting as part of the Hutch-Kinahan gangland feud. A 42-year-old Kinahan gang member was arrested from Mountjoy Prison in April 2023 and released without charge, and a man in his 40s was arrested in April and May 2023 and also released without charge. A file was sent to the DPP in early 2024 recommending that up to 10 people, including Daniel Kinahan, Sean McGovern, Gary Finnegan, Trevor Byrne, and Joseph Warren, be charged. As of September 2026, the DPP is still considering whether to pursue charges and the inquest was adjourned again for six months.
