On 22 February 2022, man Keith Conlon, 35, was shot in the back of the head by man Diarmuid Phelan, 56, a senior counsel and law professor at Trinity College Dublin, at Hazelgrove Farm, Kiltalown Lane, Tallaght, Dublin, and died two days later at Tallaght University Hospital. Phelan was tried for murder before Ms Justice Lankford at the Central Criminal Court and acquitted by a jury on 3 January 2025. Prosecution witness Kallum Coleman, 24, from Drimnagh, Dublin, who was due to testify on 30 October 2024, left Ireland for Spain and fled when gardaí stopped for refreshments en route to an airport. Coleman was arrested in early January 2025 on a warrant and jailed for six months with two months suspended for contempt of court at a Central Criminal Court sitting in Cork.
