Patrick Stokes, a man in his 30s, was stabbed in the stomach at 9:30am on 10 October 2024 outside St Joseph's National School in Deanscurragh, Longford, during an incident of violent disorder linked to an ongoing feud. Four people were charged: John Keenan, 32, David Joyce, 29, Martin Keenan, 34, and Winnie Keenan, 29, with charges including violent disorder, production of an article, and assault. The case was adjourned several times at Longford District Court before being sent to Longford Circuit Court for trial on indictment in July 2025. John Keenan was sentenced to eight years and six months, with 18 months suspended for three years, at Longford Circuit Court in November 2025.

On 3 October 2021, four men attacked the home of Mary Nevin at 68 Grian Ard, Ardnacassa, Longford, shortly before 10.30pm, smashing a door and six windows with iron bars while she, her husband and five children were in bed. David Joyce (28), John Keenan (31), Michael 'Jnr' Ward (33) and Martin Keenan (34) pleaded guilty to violent disorder and putting a person in fear at Longford Circuit Court in November 2024. Mrs Nevin had tried to withdraw her complaint, but the DPP approved the prosecution, and the defendants did not explain why they carried out the attack. On 12 November 2024, the four men were sentenced to varying periods of up to 39 months in prison.

John Keenan, 30, of 37 Palace Crescent, Longford, faces a charge of assaulting Patrick Lowrey at Peter Clarke's Pub, Dublin Street, Longford, on 22 October 2022. At a court sitting on 27 September 2023, a garda gave evidence of serving the Book of Evidence on the accused. The DPP sought to have the matter returned for trial at the next sitting of Longford Circuit Criminal Court. The accused was remanded on his own bond of €250, granted legal aid, and an alibi warning was issued.

John Keenan, a 28-year-old father of three from Longford, was arrested after a disturbance on Dublin Street, Longford, shortly after 8pm on 19 December 2021, when he was highly intoxicated and became agitated and abusive towards gardaí, requiring six officers to subdue him. He was charged with four public order offences and appeared at Athlone District Court on 20 December 2021, where he was granted bail. In May 2022, Judge Bernadette Owens at Longford District Court fined him €200 for threatening and abusive behaviour and €300 for obstructing a peace officer, with two further charges taken into consideration.
