A staged low-velocity collision between a white Toyota Celica and a Mazda at Ballycullen Roundabout, Woodstown, near Firhouse in Tallaght, south Dublin, in February 2013 (reported as 1 or 4 February) resulted in no injuries. Thomas O'Neill, 47, a man, his sister Deirdre Mellor, 54, a woman, and O'Neill's partner Ann Wilson, 44, a woman, all pleaded guilty to deception after fraudulently claiming over €35,000 from AXA insurance, with Wilson receiving €21,595 in a personal injuries settlement. AXA made a formal complaint to gardaí in July 2019 after discovering on social media that the parties in both cars knew each other. O'Neill was jailed for two years in May 2024, Mellor received a two-year suspended sentence, and Wilson was sentenced to three years in prison, suspended in full, in June 2024.
