On Tuesday 4 November 2025, gardaí from the Crumlin Drugs Unit stopped a vehicle driven by Stephen Dunne, a 43-year-old man, in the Dolphin's Barn area of Dublin 8, as part of Operation Tara. A search of the vehicle found about 44kg of suspected cocaine worth an estimated €3 million, and a follow-up search of a Tallaght residence in Dublin 24 found about 10kg of suspected cannabis worth an estimated €200,000. Dunne was arrested and detained under Section 2 of the drug trafficking legislation, and was charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act with unlawful possession of cocaine and possession for sale or supply. On 6 November 2025 he appeared at Dublin District Court, where he was remanded in custody to Cloverhill District Court for a bail hearing and directions from the DPP.
