Roman Lavu, 47, of Durrow, Co Laois, was stopped by a garda at Bonnetsrath on the N77 in Co Kilkenny on November 28 last, with the year not stated. He initially gave a false name and date of birth before giving his correct details, and the garda found he was disqualified from driving. Lavu pleaded guilty at Kilkenny District Court, as reported in July 2024, to driving without insurance and without a driving licence. The latest development is that he was fined €500 for driving without insurance, fined €400 for not having a licence, and disqualified from driving for four years.
