On Saturday 14 February 2026, Gardaí from the Divisional Drugs Unit at Henry Street searched a domestic residence in Limerick city during an intelligence-led operation targeting drug sale and supply and found suspected cannabis herb estimated at over €100,000. A man in his 50s was arrested and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 and was later charged in connection with the seizure. Robert Kelly (56) appeared before Limerick District Court on Monday 16 February 2026, charged with one count of possession of cannabis worth €100,000 for sale or supply and one count of simple possession of cannabis, which are allegations. Gardaí had no objection to bail, and Judge Patricia Harney granted bail with conditions and remanded him to appear for directions from the DPP on 18 September.
