The first, on 15 May 2019 at 3.05pm, involved sideswiping a car in Abbeyleix, and the second took place at The Heath on 6 October 2019, where an elderly man was injured. He was identified by dashcam footage and appeared from prison by video link before Portlaoise District Court, which sentenced him to four months to run after his current sentence and fixed recognisance in case of appeal. On 7 July 2019, Patrick Maughan, a 62-year-old man from Ballymun, Dublin, took €31.01 worth of fuel from Ely's Service Station in Urlingford, County Kilkenny, and drove away without paying. The court heard he was banned from driving at the time and had 70 previous convictions. He pleaded guilty to theft at Thurles District Court.
