On Friday 12 January 2024, a man armed with a knife entered the Clonakilty & Dunmanway Credit Union on Kent Street, Clonakilty, County Cork, threatened a staff member and took cash reported as more than €1,000 in one account and €2,000 in another. Michael Collins, a 20-year-old man, was arrested at Clonakilty Garda Station on 14 January and charged with robbery that evening. He appeared before Bandon District Court on 15 January, where he was remanded on bail on a €300 bond. The case is set to return to Clonakilty District Court on 5 March for DPP directions, with further charges possible.
