On 8 March 2023 at 9:23am, officers stopped a car at Granard Road, Aghafin, Edgeworthstown, County Longford, driven by Martin Stokes (32) of Corboy, Edgeworthstown. An inspection of the vehicle found an unrestrained three-year-old child in the rear seat with no booster seat or seat belt. Stokes, who had two previous convictions, was fined €400 with six months to pay at Longford District Court, where his solicitor said he was not present. The Longford Leader reported the sentence in July 2024.

Martin Stokes, 31, of Mullingar, Westmeath, was charged with the theft of motor fuel valued at €60.31 from Kane's Garage on Longford Road, Edgeworthstown, County Longford, allegedly on 15 March 2022. He indicated a not guilty plea and elected to have the matter heard in the Circuit Court. He was represented by solicitor Frank Gearty. Judge Bernadette Owens remanded him on continuing bail to 23 June 2023 to allow time for the DPP to give consent to have the matter sent forward for trial.
