Andrew Burns, 27, a man from Strabane and a painter and decorator, was shot twice in the back on a roadway close to Donnyloop Church, Castlefin, Co Donegal, on 12 February 2008 in a dissident-linked killing attributed to Óglaigh na hÉireann. Martin Kelly, 37, a man of Barrack Street, Strabane, was convicted and sentenced to life in prison for the murder in 2012 after pleading not guilty. Gardaí believe a number of people were involved in the killing. A woman in her 60s was arrested on 14 May 2026 under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 at a Garda station in Donegal and released without charge on 15 May 2026, with a file to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
