Martin Cawley (29 in 2024 reports, 31 in a 2026 report) of Harbour Street, Tullamore, was charged after gardaí alleged that on April 29, 2024 he flushed a large quantity of white powder down a toilet while they were executing a search warrant. In June 2024 at Tullamore District Court his barrister applied for legal aid, and in July 2024 the application was withdrawn after Judge Andrew Cody refused to recuse himself, with the prosecution adjourned to July 24. The court heard that a substance certified as cocaine was valued at €30 and that Cawley was found guilty of possession. On July 9, 2026 Judge Cody imposed sentences of three months for obstruction, one month for failing to appear in court and two months on another charge, which is the latest development reported.

On 6 July 2022 at approximately 1pm, a man in his 40s was assaulted with baseball bats, hockey sticks, and a pitchfork at the Arden View estate in Tullamore, County Offaly, and was left in a serious condition in hospital. The attack followed a long-standing feud between two families. Six people, including Martin Cawley, 28, Michael Cawley, 18, William Cawley, 30, Margaret Cawley, 26, Lena McDonagh, 48, and Gerard McDonagh, 28, were charged with assaulting Patrick McGinley. The defendants appeared before Portlaoise District Court on 12 July 2022 and were remanded on bail, and five of them subsequently appeared at Tullamore District Court on 10 October 2022, made no reply to charges of assault and violent disorder, and were sent forward for circuit court trial on indictment.
