Julie Nevin, a 39-year-old woman from Portlaoise, was convicted by Judge Andrew Cody of dangerous driving and failing to provide a blood specimen after a black Peugeot 207 was reported swerving on the M7 motorway between Junctions 14 and 15 near Portlaoise around 1.50pm on 28 February 2024. Gardaí arrested the driver following multiple calls about the car's behaviour, and a roadside test showed she had benzodiazepine in her system. A doctor was unable to take a full blood sample after Nevin withdrew her arm. The convictions were recorded in her absence, and the matter was adjourned to Portlaoise District Court on 3 October for finalisation.
