  • Longford theft case marked peremptory as two women miss court date Theft · Co. Longford

Julie Nevin, 24, of 98 McEoin Park, Longford, and Martina Nevin, 40, of 25 Lana Aoibhinn, are charged with theft of over a dozen Yankee Candles worth €245 from Mr Price, Athlone Road, Longford, on 20 October 2021. The accused are said to have placed the items into a child's buggy and exited the store's front entrance after passing all points of payment at around 2pm. At a court hearing on 12 April 2023, both defendants failed to appear; Martina Nevin's solicitor said she was diagnosed with Covid and supplied a test result, while Julie Nevin's solicitor said her client had not attended because of her co-accused's absence. Judge Owens marked the case peremptory and adjourned it to 18 April 2023 for facts and penalty.
