John Stokes, a 51-year-old father of 12 from Dundalk, was observed driving while disqualified at College Manor on 3 October 2021, and his car was seized the following day when stopped by the local Garda drugs unit. He had 35 previous convictions, including five for driving without insurance. Judge Eirinn McKiernan at Dundalk District Court sentenced him to two consecutive two-month jail terms and a six-year driving disqualification. A fixed recognizance for appeal was granted on his own bond of €300 and an independent surety of €1,000.
