John Ryan, a 54-year-old man from Thurles, was charged with public intoxication and threatening and abusive behaviour following an incident at Lidl, Abbey Road, Thurles, on 14 May 2020. A Lidl worker called garda Evan Quigley, who found Ryan shouting in the car park and highly intoxicated. Ryan was arrested and charged; he told the court he had only one drink and that gardaí insisted he remove his clothes in the van. At Thurles District Court before Judge Elizabeth MacGrath, Ryan was fined €150 with recognisances of €250.
