  • Man sentenced for assault and criminal damage in Buncrana Assault; criminal damage; possession of cannabis · Co. Donegal

    Jason O'Connor, a 32-year-old Irish former soldier, was sentenced at Letterkenny District Court in March 2022 to three months in prison for assault, suspended for 18 months. The incident occurred in Buncrana in May 2020 when a neighbour took his speaker for playing music too loudly, after which O'Connor attacked the man and his car with a chair. He was arrested at 10pm on 12 May 2020 and, while at Buncrana Garda station, kicked doors, lashed out at gardaí, and assaulted another person whose injuries were not serious. He was also charged with possession of cannabis worth €20 from April 2020. He has previous convictions and is currently serving a two-month sentence for another matter.
