On Sunday 24 September 2023, gardaí executed a Section 29 warrant at an address at Oakwood Park, Termon Abbey, Drogheda, Co. Louth, where a Beretta double barrel sawn-off shotgun, allegedly loaded with two bullets, and seven further bullets were allegedly found in a bedroom. Glenn Douch (35), of Termon Abbey, was arrested that day and allegedly observed in the bedroom during the search. He was charged with possessing a loaded sawn-off shotgun and seven rounds of ammunition under the Firearms Act, and on Tuesday 26 September 2023 he appeared at Drogheda District Court, made no reply to the charge and was remanded in custody to Cloverhill Prison. He is next due to appear by videolink on Monday 2 October 2023, and no directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions have yet been received.
