On 27 May 2022, man Derek Moore, 39, struck Ukrainian woman Valentyna Linck with his motorbike while she was crossing Amiens Street in Dublin, causing her significant head and facial injuries, fractures, a stroke and a brain bleed. Moore was seen speeding and doing wheelies before the collision, and a blood test showed his cannabis level was almost four times the legal limit. He was charged in October 2022 and pleaded guilty in December 2025 to dangerous driving causing serious harm, two counts of dangerous driving, and driving under the influence of an intoxicant. In May 2026, Judge Orla Crowe relaxed his bail conditions to allow him to travel abroad for one week, despite Garda objections, while he awaits sentencing by Judge Pauline Codd on 29 June 2026.
