Derek Moore, a 49-year-old man from Blanchardstown, pleaded guilty to five counts of stealing just over €92,700 from his employer Energy Saver Insulations Ltd and one count of falsifying the company's accounts between February and November 2018. Moore, who worked as a bookkeeper for the Dublin 12-based family-run business for 22 years, colluded with three customers to give them cheaper materials in exchange for cash payments he deposited into his own account. He repaid €33,000 of the stolen money, with a further €7,000 to be transferred to the victims. On 15 November 2021, Judge Pauline Codd at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court sentenced Moore to two years' imprisonment, suspending the final 18 months.
