On 24 October 2025 in Limerick city, Danielle McCormack (24), of no fixed abode, approached a woman and asked to use her mobile phone to make a call. After the woman refused, McCormack allegedly grabbed the phone, an Apple iPhone worth €560, and ran off down the street with it, and the phone has not been recovered. On 14 April 2026, McCormack pleaded guilty to the charges against her at Limerick District Court before Judge Patricia Harney and was sentenced to 12 weeks in jail.
