Younis Helal, a 41-year-old Egyptian man from Dundalk, stabbed a woman in the back on 28 July 2021 after she tried to protect his wife during a domestic dispute at their family home in County Louth. He pleaded guilty to assault causing harm and production of a knife. The woman received 13 stitches to two stab wounds. At Dundalk Circuit Court in February 2023, Judge Dara Hayes sentenced him to three and a half years, with the final nine months suspended for a year.
