On May 18 at about 12.20am, Youcef Mohamoud, 27, was involved in a verbal dispute with another man in the dining area of Richmond Court direct provision accommodation centre in Longford, where he was seen holding a kitchen knife and allegedly threatened to kill the other man. He was arrested and later spat on Garda Kevin McGloin's face after ripping up the charge sheet, and caused criminal damage to a garda cell and a vehicle. Mohamoud pleaded guilty at Longford District Court to spitting on the garda, threatening to kill or cause serious harm to another man, and criminal damage of a garda cell. He was sentenced to three months' imprisonment backdated to May 19 for the assault and a five-month sentence suspended for 18 months.
