    A 26-year-old woman from London, Yejieda Johnson, was arrested at Dublin Airport at the weekend before her court appearance, after gardaí alleged she had deliberately concealed 37kg of cannabis, valued at €740,000, in luggage on a flight from the United States. She was charged with unlawful importation and possession of drugs for sale or supply. At Dublin District Court on 5 September 2023, gardaí objected to bail, but Judge Treasa Kelly set bail at a €1,000 bond with a €10,000 independent surety. Johnson, who said she thought she was transporting handbags and had never touched the cannabis, was remanded in custody to appear again on 11 September.
