  Xiaochen Han, a 30-year-old Chinese man, was charged over a €1.6 million cannabis seizure at U Store It, Unit 24, Euro Business Park, Little Island, Co Cork, with the alleged offences dated 6 July 2026. He was charged with possession of cannabis and having cannabis for the purpose of sale or supply, and it is alleged he entered the State via Belfast to avoid immigration. On 28 July 2026 he appeared by video link at Cork District Court, where Judge David Waters refused bail and described him as a serious flight risk despite a €20,000 cash lodgement offered by his mother. He was remanded in custody to appear again at Cork District Court on 10 August 2026 for DPP directions.
