John Doyle, 49, of Littleton, Co. Tipperary, was convicted in November 2023 of two counts of rape and four counts of sexual assault following a Central Criminal Court trial in Wexford. The offending took place in Littleton between 2006 and 2017, involving his two daughters, Rebecca Doyle and Samantha Doyle, and his niece, Winnie Whelan, 14. Doyle denied any wrongdoing and maintained his innocence throughout the proceedings. On 19 February 2024, Ms Justice Siobhán Lankford imposed concurrent sentences of 12 years on the rape counts, with the final year suspended, and six and four years on the sexual assault counts, all concurrent, backdated to 17 November 2023. Doyle must stay away from the victims for five years after release and is under Probation Services supervision.
