  • Two women sentenced for affray in Longford Affray · Co. Longford

Four women were charged with affray and threatening and abusive behaviour following a feud-related altercation in the car park of Longford Shopping Centre on 3 May 2023, in which two women were seen wrestling on the ground and pulling at each other's hair. Bernadette Keenan, 45, Nicole Keenan, 24, Winnie Ward, 22, and Margaret Ward, 25, were arrested and charged, and first appeared at Athlone District Court in May 2023. The case was adjourned several times before Winnie Ward and Margaret Ward pleaded guilty before Judge Bernadette Owens in January 2025. The two Ward women were placed on a peace bond with a €250 cash lodgement for 18 months, while the Keenan women's solicitor said his clients would contest the charges.
