latest first- Man fined €200 for driving without tax and NCT in Longford Driving without tax; driving without NCT · Co. Longford
Willie Stokes, a young man from Longford, was stopped at a checkpoint on Richmond Street, Longford, on 31 October 2021, when his car was found to have no tax and no NCT. He told the court he had paid around €3,400 for insurance, which was the reason he could not afford the tax and NCT, both of which had only expired for a number of months. Sergeant Mark Mahon gave evidence of the stop. At Longford District Court, where defence solicitor Fiona Baxter represented him, Stokes was fined a total of €200, and the judge commented that something was very wrong with the system.
