Cases
latest first- Appeal reserved in Kilkenny endangerment and criminal damage case Endangerment; criminal damage · Co. Kilkenny
In the early hours of 22 January 2020, William Harty, a 31-year-old man, deliberately crashed his car into the front of the family home at Kilmanagh, Co Kilkenny, while his wife and young children were inside. He pleaded not guilty to endangerment and criminal damage at Kilkenny Circuit Criminal Court, but a jury found him guilty. He was sentenced to five years' imprisonment by Judge Cormac Quinn. Harty appealed his conviction, arguing that evidence from a 999 call made by his wife should not have been admitted. The Court of Appeal reserved judgement after hearing submissions in January 2022.
