On 8 November 2021, a man dragged his ex-partner, a woman, along a road at Manor Valley, Monksland, Athlone, Co. Roscommon, causing burns to her back and cuts to her knees and hands. The attack followed a row over a vacuum cleaner. William Galvin was arrested, made admissions and later pleaded guilty to assault causing harm.
