latest first- Man sentenced for drink-driving in Tipperary after SUV lands on roof Drink-driving · Co. Tipperary
William Barrett, 37, of Thomastown, Effin, was convicted of drink-driving after his SUV struck a fence and landed on its roof in Jamestown, Effin, Tipperary, shortly before 8pm on 14 April 2019. A local woman in the front porch of her home heard the noise and saw the vehicle tear into her boundary fence. Barrett, the sole occupant, failed a roadside breath test and a blood sample confirmed he was more than four times the legal limit. At Kilmallock Court, Judge Colm Roberts convicted him, fined him €500 and disqualified him from driving for three years, while dismissing charges under Section 107 of the Road Traffic Act. An appeal has been lodged.
