A 12-year-old boy, Wiktor Chojecki, was killed when the car he was driving collided head-on with a lorry on the N21 at Rineroe near Adare, County Limerick, shortly before 2am on Friday 11 February 2022. The boy, who was born in Ireland to Polish parents and lived in Newcastle West, was the sole occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. The lorry driver, a man in his 40s, was not injured and did not require hospital treatment. The body was removed to the morgue at University Hospital Limerick and the coroner was notified. Garda Forensic Collision Investigators examined the scene and Gardaí appealed for witnesses and dashcam footage, with the investigation including examination of electronic devices.
