Warren Delaney, a 31-year-old man, called gardai to his Portlaoise address on 24 February 2022 after becoming paranoid while using cannabis, and officers found €1,200 worth of the drug during a search. He was arrested and made admissions in relation to the find. At Portlaoise District Court on 14 October 2022, Delaney admitted possessing drugs for sale or supply. Judge Andrew Cody adjourned the case until 20 July for an updated probation report, indicating he would strike out the charges if the accused could show he had turned his life around. Delaney has since secured an electrical apprenticeship in Dublin, returned to live with his parents, and undergone counselling.
