  Walter Fernandes, a 26-year-old man with an address at Apartment 4, Weavers Hall, Longford, is charged with assaulting his flatmate, a man, at that apartment on December 5, 2025. He is accused of banging the victim's head against a wall, putting his hands around his neck, kicking him, and holding a meat cleaver to his neck, and the injured man had cuts to his inner limb but needed no hospital treatment. A sitting of Longford District Court reported on June 17, 2026 saw Fernandes charged with producing a weapon during the alleged assault causing harm, and Judge Vincent Deane refused jurisdiction so the case will go to a higher court.
