On August 1, 2025, Waleed Maza, a 30-year-old Palestinian man, was stopped while driving at Henry Street in Limerick city centre. He pleaded guilty at Limerick District Court to driving without insurance and without an NCT. The defence said the incident was an oversight, that he regrets his actions, and that he has since transferred his insurance to the correct car. On January 23, 2026, the judge convicted him and fined him a total of €850 for the driving offences.
