Visak Rajesh Leela, a 26-year-old postgraduate student, was sentenced at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on 28 April 2025 to a three-year suspended prison sentence after pleading guilty to the attempted abduction of a five-year-old boy from a residential building in Dublin 9 on 14 September 2024. He was arrested following a party at the apartment block, where CCTV showed him leaving with the child under his arm. He was refused bail at Cloverhill District Court in September 2024 as a flight risk and spent three months in custody before sentencing. The court directed him to leave the jurisdiction within two weeks and not return for 10 years.
