Vincent Kelly, 37, of Dundaniel Road, Kilmore, was a taxi driver who acted as a courier for €112,000 concealed in a hidden compartment in his modified Volkswagen Passat. On 16 January 2021, gardaí noticed the backseats of the taxi would not move fully forward at his address and he opened the secret compartment to reveal a bag of money. He pleaded guilty to money laundering at Dublin District Court. On 21 June 2022, Judge Melanie Greally sentenced him to 18 months in custody and ordered the confiscation of the taxi and a Rolex watch.
