latest first- Two men released over contempt of court trespass orders in Carlow Contempt of court (trespass) · Co. Carlow
Vincent Kavanagh and his wife Madeleine Kavanagh broke into their former family home at 36 Beechwood Park, Carlow via their son Jeffrey on the afternoon of 17 February 2020, after a court messenger executed a possession order for Start Mortgages Designated Activity Company following default on a €110,000 Bank of Scotland loan from 2007. The High Court granted an injunction restraining the Kavanaghs from trespassing in March 2022, and on 31 May 2022 three men found at the property were committed to Mountjoy Prison for contempt of court, while Dylan Kavanagh avoided imprisonment by giving a sworn undertaking. On 15 June 2022, Ms Justice Emily Egan ordered the release of two of the men, ruling that the committal had served its purpose and it was not appropriate for them to remain in Mountjoy Prison.
