  • Man jailed for five years over Dublin insurance fraud Deception and money laundering (insurance fraud) · Co. Dublin

Egidijus Aleliunas, a 43-year-old man from Lucan, Dublin, operated as a ghost broker from 2010 to 2017, selling false insurance policies and forged no-claims bonuses that Gardaí valued at €4 million. His wife Anastasija Pavlova, 37, and parents-in-law Natalja Pavlova, 65, and Viaceslav Pavlov, 68, all originally from Lithuania, each laundered between €18,000 and €20,000 for him. The investigation began in 2017 after Aviva noticed multiple no-claims bonus documents signed by the same person, and all four pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court. On 20 February 2024, Judge Martin Nolan sentenced Aleliunas to five years in prison and gave the other three two-year suspended sentences.
