  A car hit Venancio Sousa, a 49-year-old man, near Furbo Church on the R336 Galway to Spiddal road at approximately 8:30pm on Sunday 24 October 2021. He was left on the road for 14 hours before being discovered and taken to University Hospital Galway, where he is on a ventilator with head injuries, internal bleeding, renal failure and broken ribs and pelvis. A woman presented herself at Ennis Garda Station in County Clare in connection with the collision and is being questioned. Salthill Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or dash cam footage.
