Valerus Afromejevs, a 33-year-old Latvian man, was arrested after gardaí carried out an afternoon search of his home at Cloncarban Lane, Birr, Co Offaly, where drugs valued at €500 were found. He pleaded guilty at Tullamore District Court to having drugs for sale or supply to others at that address on November 18. The judge, Andrew Cody, said he would not strike out the charge, and sentence was adjourned to June 17 for a probation and welfare report.
