Tyler Brennan, a 20-year-old man from Monasterevin, Co Kildare, is accused of driving an e-scooter without insurance or a driving licence at St Evins Park, Monasterevin, on 7 May 2021. He appeared before Portlaoise District Court on 30 June 2022, where Judge Patricia Cronin assigned legal aid and adjourned the case to 8 September 2022. In February 2023, his solicitor Josephine Fitzpatrick asked Judge Andrew Cody to adjourn the case in anticipation of a Bill before the Oireachtas that might decriminalise e-scooter use.
