latest first- Probation Act applied to woman convicted of abusive behaviour in Portlaoise Public order (threatening · Co. Laois
Tina Fee, a 30-year-old woman, was convicted at Laois District Court of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour and failing to comply with a Garda direction at Midlands Regional Hospital Portlaoise on 17 October 2021. She had gone to the hospital for an assessment and became abusive to nursing staff and Gardaí, calling them dirty rats and dirty f***ing pigs. The defence cited her mental health issues, homelessness, and a suicide attempt, and noted she was in breach of a suspended sentence. Judge Catherine Staines applied the Probation Act in sentencing Ms Fee, describing her as highly manipulative and saying there was no excuse for the way she spoke to staff.
