  • Cork farmer jailed for raping man twice in Limerick Rape (anal rape) · Co. Limerick

    A married Cork farmer was convicted of raping a man on two separate occasions in County Limerick, in January 2011 and April 2019. Thomas 'Tossy' Nyhan, a man aged 60 (reports also give 64), was unanimously found guilty by a jury following an 11-day trial at the Central Criminal Court sitting in Limerick in May 2025. The allegations came to light when the victim told his GP after the second rape; Nyhan was questioned by Gardaí in May 2019 and arrested in July 2020. On 21 July 2025, Justice Mary Ellen Ring sentenced him to 11 and a half years, with the final year suspended, for the 2019 rape and eight and a half years for the 2011 rape, both running concurrently and backdated to 23 June 2025.
