    Thomas Saldi was involved in a serious motorcycle collision near Kinvara, Galway, on 19 July 2022 that left him in a touch-and-go state for several weeks. He was feared not to survive the crash. He works at the Mona Lisa Restaurant in Galway's West End and plays football for West United. By October 2022 he was sharing photos of himself smiling in hospital, and by November 2022, approximately four months after the crash, he was joking with family and friends as his slow but positive recovery continued.
