Thomas Quinn, 27, a father of three from Ennis, Co Clare, was charged with asking a mother on Snapchat whether he could have sex with her two-year-old daughter, an offence committed on 29 August 2020. A jury at Ennis Circuit Court convicted him in May 2025 of communicating with the woman online for the purpose of facilitating the sexual exploitation of the child. Judge Francis Comerford sentenced him to 18 months in prison in July 2025, reducing a headline sentence of 26 months, with no part suspended due to his lack of admissions. Quinn was placed on the Sex Offenders register as a result of the conviction.
