On 29 October 2017, at Thomas O'Riordan's address in Limerick, Brendan Hennessy, 40, of Kilfinane, punched a man in the face while he was kneeling, fracturing his jaw. The victim underwent an operation. Hennessy was found guilty of assault causing harm and O'Riordan, 49, of Bruree, was found guilty of impeding the apprehension of an offender at a trial in October 2021. In August 2023, Hennessy received a three-year suspended sentence and O'Riordan an 18-month suspended sentence.
