Thomas O'Donoghue, a 43-year-old man, and William O'Donoghue, a 31-year-old man, carried out a spree of thefts from seven premises in Tipperary between January 31, 2023 and March 10, 2024. The stolen items included 100 vehicle batteries from Hanly Tyres in Tipperary Town, tools from a house under construction in Golden, heating oil from a Cashel property, and a power washer from a Thurles hire centre. Gardaí linked Thomas O'Donoghue to the offences through photos and videos found on two mobile phones seized from him. Both men pleaded guilty at Clonmel Circuit Court, and on May 27, 2026, Thomas O'Donoghue was sentenced to seven years jail with the final three years suspended while William O'Donoghue received three years with the final 12 months suspended.
