Thomas Neville, a 59-year-old man of Railway Avenue, Inchicore, was found unanimously guilty by a jury at the Central Criminal Court on July 11th, 2023, of one count of rape, one count of child exploitation and 20 counts of sexual assault against a girl. The offences took place at various locations in Dublin between 2010 and 2020, and the abuse came to light in August 2020 when the girl, then 14, told a friend. Neville was arrested, detained and interviewed in November 2020, and the Director of Public Prosecutions proposed a sentence of 10 to 15 years. Judge Caroline Biggs adjourned sentencing until October 23rd, and Neville does not accept the verdict.
