Thomas McDonagh, a 33-year-old man, is accused of obtaining refunds of just over €700 from two SuperValu stores on April 25 2025 by using fake receipts and bottles of alcohol he had taken from the shops. He received €525 at Duffy's SuperValu in Edgeworthstown and €180 at SuperValu in Longford town. He had also missed a hearing on November 18, and he has been charged with theft by deception. At Longford District Court in February 2026 his barrister said he could not attend that morning due to Storm Chandra, and he was remanded in his absence to a sitting on March 3.
